Close Outlook
2. Open any other Office Program in that Suite version
3. FILL IN THE Name and Initial Window
4. Reopen Outlook
5. Check that Preview works and you can close windows and the Outlook Program.

Repair or Uninstall/Reinstall Office 2007:
1. Go to Programs and Features, try to repair Office 2007
2. If it still doesn't fix the issue, do a complete uninstall and reinstall of Office again.

Third Party software causing issues:
It maybe possible that antivirus programs like Mcafee or third party add-ins maybe causing the reading pane issue.

Try to disable Outlook integration?

See how that goes and if you don't mind, please provide feedback if you have a solution so it may help others out there as well.

I suppose probably the best people to contact will be Dell Support or Intermedia Support, as they should be able to provide you a solution on that matter. I am pretty sure Dell have other customers that are in the same situation and a solution to fix it.

RoxRox Wonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07582341016417914649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14642779.post-25618304435720357412008-09-10T06:23:00.000+10:002008-09-10T06:23:00.000+10:00Rox,Yes, my computer is running Outlook 2007 SP1 a...Rox,

Yes, my computer is running Outlook 2007 SP1 and Vista SP1. I didn't specifically transfer anything over to my new laptop with regards to XP or Outlook. However, I use Intermedia as my exchange and web provider and they have a tool called outlook profile helper. Since my new laptop came installed with Office 207, all I did was run the profile helper to set up my local copy with the exchange server. Please let me know if that helps. THanks so much for responding.

Best,

MikeUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05433480298223011141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14642779.post-74417258391577052952008-09-05T20:45:00.000+10:002008-09-05T20:45:00.000+10:00Hi Michael,Do you know if your laptop has Vista Se...Hi Michael,

Do you know if your laptop has Vista Service Pack 1 and Office 2007 Service Pack 1 installed?

Did you transfer any WinXP settings across to your new laptop, especially outlook profile?Rox Wonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07582341016417914649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14642779.post-7097635225613849002008-09-05T07:25:00.000+10:002008-09-05T07:25:00.000+10:00Rox,I was hoping that you might be able to help. ...Rox,

I was hoping that you might be able to help. I have been experiencing all of the problems that you mention in this post but I only purchased my Dell XPS1530 a month ago. It came installed with Office 2007 small business. This is obviously after the fix in March so I'm not sure how I go about finding/fixing the reading pane situation (ie KB946983 is not in my updates). I have had Outlook 2007 for well over a year and was previously operating on an XP machine. I only started seeing this when I moved to Vista with the new laptop. Any help would be much appreciated.
