The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook - Outlook 2007

' The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook. '

An interesting issue arised at work, which I felt I should add to my Blog to help others in the same boat. As years gone by, I have noticed that Google has too much information that sometimes it just doesn't do it's job quickly and accurately enough.

Anyway, to cut the long story short, let's proceed with the problem and conclude it with the solution.

Symptoms:
- Unable to delete items in your deleted items folder (including Archived Folder)?
- Suspect that the .pst file is corrupted?
- Or simply that error message keeps popping up?

If the above is what you are experiencing, then proceed with the following solution:

1. Close Outlook.
2. Go to c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12 and run Scanpst.exe.
3. Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Inbox Repair Tool will open. Click browse and locate the PST file that you want to check.
4. After you located the pst file, click the Start button.
5. If errors are found, click repair.
6. Start outlook and see if the .pst file is now working properly.

Please leave a comment if the above solution worked or not. Thanks! =)
